General Radiography/Fluoroscopy

General Radiography
A registered medical radiation technologist performs all x-rays, while the Radiologist reads the x-rays. Images are obtained electronically by using radiation to detect abnormalities in all different parts of the body. They are then viewed on computers.

Our department works on booked appointment times only. Your physician’s office will fax a requisition to the Central Bookings Department and you will be notified of your appointment date and time in three to four working days.

Fluoroscopy
Fluoroscopy is a special type of a x-ray procedure that is done while the radiologist is present. You will receive a constant beam of radiation, and while this is being done the radiologist can view your images on a TV monitor and take individual pictures. All of the procedures below are done using the Fluoroscopy x-ray equipment.

Chest Fluoroscopy
Your doctor may order a chest x-ray to be done under fluoroscopy. This will localize a certain area in your chest in more detail than a normal x-ray could. The radiologist will be present to do this and may ask you to move in certain positions for some pictures. This procedure is quick and involves no preparation. Expect to be in the department for 20 minutes.
