ER Locums

Are you looking to supplement your income? We would be pleased to talk to you about booking occasional shifts in our ER department. On occasion, we also require coverage for a 'string' of shifts when our core staff are on holiday. Travel allowance and accommodation provided. Generous hourly rate. CT Scanner now on site. Please contact ED Scheduler, Laurie Smith, at: 705-653-1140 x2007 or welcomedoc@nexicom.net
Innovation in action:
Are you a recent grad or new to the ER? CMH offers an 'Orientation Shift' to assist you in being comfortable in working emerg at our site. Here is a testimonial from Dr. Al Bell, graduate of Queen's University's Enhanced Skills Program, Emergency Medicine, pictured above:
"One of the most daunting things after completing residency is the realization that the most difficult part of our career is often not the medicine, but rather understanding what resources are available wherever we choose to practice and how these can be most readily accessed. In essence, patient presentations are largely unchanged regardless of location, but each hospital has its own nuances related to computer systems, investigation availability, consults, transfers, and innumerous other issues. Some hospitals may give you a 10-15 minute overview specific to their facility prior to the first shift, but anyone who has undertaken in this realizes it is clearly insufficient. That is why the paid 8-hour orientation shift at Campbellford Memorial Hospital is such a great idea, especially for new graduates. It certainly increased my comfort, and is just another reason why Campbellford Memorial Hospital is such a great place for patients and staff."
GP/Anaesthetist
We are doing some succession planning: Are you looking to scale back or semi-retire in the next few years? Our OR runs 5 half days/week with a second OR opened occasionally for scopes. The OR is used by our full time General Surgeon and visiting ENT, Urology and Dental surgeons. Surgical cases include: hernia repair, appendectomy, carpal tunnel, gallbladder, bowel resection. Call arrangements flexible with the current GP Anaesthestists. We do not do Ortho or OB so out-of-hours surgery is rare. Majority of calls are ER backup or ground ambulance transfers. No hospital overhead. Generous, daily, HOCC stipend plus your FFS billings.
