Our Medical Surgical Unit has 34 medical/surgical beds, including a 4 bed Special Care unit. Our nursing team cares for patients using a multidisciplinary approach with other professionals involved in care. Care conferences with you and your family are also held when needed to establish realistic patient plans and goals. We also offer physiotherapy services to in-patients.

Admitting and registration are located in the Emergency Department on the Main Floor. This area of the Hospital is open 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily, seven days a week. Please present your valid Ontario Health card and insurance information upon your arrival.
Discharge time is 11:00 a.m. to allow time for incoming patients to be admitted. Patients must see a nurse prior to leaving the Hospital to ensure discharge planning is complete. An Expected Date of Discharge is posted for every in-patient.
Counselling and information are provided to you and your family if you require assistance. The coordinator facilitates applications to long-term care facilities and liaises with the community agencies such as Community Care Access. This is a flexible guideline for planning for discharge, and is based on diagnosis.

Most Ontario residents are insured by the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan (OHIP). If you do not have OHIP coverage, you may be required to pay a deposit to the Hospital at the time of admission. The balance of your account will be due upon discharge from the Hospital. If your procedure is NOT covered by OHIP, you will be asked to pay in advance. If you are unsure whether or not your procedure is covered, please call your physician.
