We welcome Residents and Medical Students. We invite you to experience a variety of learning opportunities in multiple healthcare settings: Family Medicine, ER and OR.
Also available are opportunities for learning in Mental Health through our Wellness Centre, part of our health 'campus'.
Bring your enthusiasm to the group practice site of the Trent Hills Family Health Team. Serving as a University of Toronto rural family medicine teaching site for over 25 years, the group is based at the Campbellford Memorial Health Centre (see Health Centre page on this site). In addition to this site, our community's Warkworth Medical Centre is now accepting R2 family medicine residents from Queen's University for core family med rotations or electives. ER electives are also available for PGY2 Family Med & PGY3 EM candidates on a limited basis.
Come benefit from the experience of Dr. Robert Henderson, Dr. Paul Williams and Dr. Celeste Collins at the Campbellford site, and Dr. Brett Jamieson at the Warkworth site.
Dr. Robert Henderson has been helping educate the next generation of family physicians for over 25 years. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and is a recent recipient of a CCFP Award of Excellence for his work in teaching . Dr. Paul Williams and Dr. Celeste Collins also have faculty appointments with the University of Toronto. Preceptor duties are shared between the three physicians. You will also meet allied preceptors through the ER and OR departments at CMH. The door is open for residents at Dr. Jamieson's practice in Warkworth, a great experience for any learner looking to understand how a solo site complements a Family Health Team.
If you’re not a resident with the University of Toronto, or Queen's, then please contact Physician Liaison, Laurie Smith, at welcomedoc@nexicom.net to find out how we might work you into any openings in our schedule.
We encourage R2 Family Medicine Residents to choose Campbellford as part of their mandatory rural rotation at U of T, while also experiencing the fun and beauty of our community.

You can also experience rural family medicine with us! The Trent Hills community is pleased to host an annual Rural Medicine Week. The Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) facilitates this annual event for first and/or second year students, enabling them to experience half-day rotations based on a variety of settings and specialties. Students enjoy placement at a variety of our medical sites, as well as with allied health professionals. You get to experience: family medicine, ER, Anaesthesia, General Surgery and/or Internal Medicine on an exciting rotating basis.
Outside of a Rural Med Week, we encourage you to apply for an elective with us through ROMP. We receive a large number of requests each summer for student electives. Only a limited number of placements are available. Accommodation may be through billet and there may be a cost involved. Remember, this is a rural elective site: you must have a car. Apply at: www.romponline.com

"I have really enjoyed my time here in Campbellford. Besides clinics, ER and OR, I have had time to explore the trails along the canal, a bit of Ferris Park and walked all over town. I made it to Warkworth for Canada Day and Hastings for the fireworks. I also went canoeing, horseback riding and I now know the chocolate factory store like the back of my hand! I will definitely be longing for the beauty of Campbellford and its people when I'm walking the streets of Toronto trying to un-learn the habit of saying "hi" to everyone!" Julia Zhu, Clinical Clerk, U of T, July 2009
"Thank you for making my month here such a wonderful experience. Each and every one of you was extremely welcoming and helpful. Please keep in touch!" Karen Hershenfield, PGY2 U of T, May 2009
"I highly recommend your site to my colleagues as an excellent teaching site for its quality of physicians, encouraging and supportive learning environment." Cao-Yang Jiang, PGY1 Queen's KGH, October 2006
"My utmost sincere appreciation for a most memorable time during my residency – and my whole life – for the past four weeks. The small town charm, the friendliness of all staff and patients…and the niceties of all things in Campbellford have made this experience truly memorable for years to come…" Allan Tan, U of T PGY2 2004
