Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) offers Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) to support the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions. This service improves access to essential diagnostic testing for patients in Trent Hills and surrounding areas.

Pulmonary Function Testing is a non-invasive test that measures how well your lungs are working. It helps clinicians assess breathing capacity, airflow, and how effectively oxygen moves into the bloodstream.

What is Pulmonary Function Testing?

PFT includes a series of breathing tests that evaluate:

  • How much air you can inhale and exhale
  • How quickly you can move air out of your lungs
  • How efficiently your lungs exchange oxygen

It is commonly used in the diagnosis and management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, and other respiratory conditions.

What to Expect

Testing is completed by CMH’s Respiratory Therapy team using specialized equipment. During the appointment, you will be guided through breathing exercises that are safe and non-invasive. Most appointments take approximately 30–60 minutes.

Results are interpreted by a CMH physician to ensure clinical expertise and continuity of care.
