Campbellford Memorial Hospital Celebrates Major Milestone in New Hospital & Campus of Care Project

Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) is celebrating another major milestone in its journey toward a new hospital following Trent Hills Council's unanimous approval of an Official Plan Amendment and zoning change for the future Campus of Care site.

"This is tremendous news for CMH and the entire region," said Jeff Hohenkerk, President and CEO of Campbellford Memorial Hospital. "Building a new hospital is an incredibly complex process, and there are many important steps along the way. This approval represents a significant milestone and brings us one step closer to realizing our vision of a modern, integrated Campus of Care that will strengthen healthcare delivery across our region for generations to come."

The property was generously offered to CMH in 2022 by local landowner and longtime hospital supporter Jim Curle. Since that announcement, the hospital has been working closely with municipal officials, planning consultants, and project partners to advance the necessary planning and approvals to support the site's future development.

Tuesday's decision represents an important step in that process, establishing land-use policies and zoning permissions that will help facilitate the next stages of planning and development.

"We are extremely grateful to Trent Hills Council and municipal staff for their continued support and commitment to this project," added Hohenkerk. "And, of course, to Jim Curle, whose extraordinary generosity and donation of this land have made the entire Campus of Care vision possible. His contribution will leave a lasting legacy for our community."

While significant planning and approval work remains, CMH continues to advance its redevelopment project through the Ministry of Health's capital planning process, alongside ongoing technical studies, site planning, and community engagement.

"Every milestone like this is worth celebrating because each one moves us closer to the new hospital our communities need and deserve," said Hohenkerk. "There is still plenty of work ahead, but this is an important moment for our project, and one we are very pleased to share with the community."
